Pterocryptis taytayensis is a species of fish from the family of the real catfish (Siluridae). It occurs on the Philippine islands of Palawan , Culion and Busuanga . Almost nothing is known about their way of life.

features

The animals reach a length of up to 12 centimeters. Their body is elongated with a very small dorsal fin without a hard ray and with three or four soft rays. The caudal fin is forked. The pectoral fins are short and have a sharp hard ray and ten to eleven soft rays. The pelvic fins are very small. The elongated anal fin has 55 to 68 relatively short rays and is not connected to the caudal fin. The gap in the mouth is long and horizontal, but does not reach the eye. The barbels on the upper jaw often extend to the base of the anal fin. The gills have ten or eleven Branchiostegalstrahl and 9 to 15 gill spines on the first arch .

The back is gray, the sides are lighter, and the belly is white.
