Ptiliolum fuscum is a beetle fromthe dwarf beetle family (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.6 to 0.65 millimeters. The body is almost matt brown-black in color, the wings are often a little lighter brown. The deck wings have completely rounded shoulder angles and are not flared in front of them. The pronotum is also completely rounded at the rear corners, its sides are not ragged in front of it. The animals are winged and have compound eyes . The pronotum is the same width as the wing. It has a very dense, punctiform structure and is very short and fine and hairy on its upper side. The antennae are dark, the first two links are brownish red. The legs are brown-yellow.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is common in Europe and North Africa. It is relatively common in Central Europe. The animals live under rotting plant material, manure and in mole nests.
