Puerto Peñasco is a city with about 57,000 inhabitants in the municipality of Puerto Peñasco in the Mexican state of Sonora . It is located on the Gulf of California and lives from tourism and fishing.
Puerto Peñasco, also known as Rocky Point for English-speaking tourists , is a tourist destination, with most tourists coming from Arizona . Puerto Peñasco has a small airport. Construction of a highway connecting Puerto Peñasco with San Luis Río Colorado and Yuma was completed in late 2008.
