history

A small chapel from 1781 stands at the orographic pass. According to legend, it was built for a farmer from Seitenberg who deserted during the War of the Bavarian Succession and was sentenced to death for it. Until the 1970s, it contained wooden sculptures by Michael Klahr , but these were stolen.

The road over the pass was expanded in the 19th century on the initiative of Princess Marianne von Oranien-Nassau (1810-1883) and her son Albrecht von Prussia (1837-1906), who had owned the Seitenberg estate since 1838. The pass road is part of the Marianne von Oranien holiday route .

In 1840, the Puhu-Baude was built near the pass and existed until 1947. From here one had an impressive view to the north.

In the 1990s, apartment houses, restaurants and hotels, including one with the name of the pass , were built southeast of the pass for the ski area on the Black Mountain .
