Rebecca "Becky" Puiras , born Rebecca Laasko , (born May 9, 1978 ) is a Canadian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Becky Puiras started for Lappe Nordic . At first she was mainly active as a cross-country skier and has participated in national races since 2002 and international races since 2003. At first she ran in lower-class racing series such as the Cross-Country Continental Cup or the Cross-Country Marathon Cup . A first success was winning the silver medal behind Tasha Betcherman over 10 kilometer freestyle at the Canadian Championships 2003 in Duntroon . In January 2004, Puiras won a Continental Cup race over 5 km freestyle in Magog on Mont Orford and was then appointed to the Canadian cross-country skiing World Cup for the first time . A month later she made her debut in Oberstdorf and finished 53rd in the pursuit and 16th in the freestyle team sprint with Sara Renner . It was not until 2008 that the Canadian came to a third World Cup appearance in Canmore and was 47th in the 10-kilometer freestyle.

Since the end of the first decade of the 2000s, Puiras started increasingly in biathlon. In the overall standings of the NorAm Cup in the 2008/09 season, she was 14th, the highlight of the season was participation in the 2009 North American Championships in Valcartier . There she was eleven in the individual and 14 in the sprint. It was also the 2009 Canadian Biathlon Championships , during which Puiras won the bronze medal behind Megan Imrie and Melanie Schultz in the individual and missed another medal in the sprint for a place in fourth place by two seconds.
