Biathlon-NorAm-Cup 2008/09

The biathlon NorAm Cup 2008/09 as well as earlier as base for the seasons 2008-09 Biathlon World Cup hosts. The racing series was largely used by Canadian and US biathletes. The racing series was carried out in ten events with mostly two races each.

Unlike in the World Cup and the IBU Cup , the starting fields are not very large, especially for women. In many cases, individual athletes only ran individual races, partly because athletes had recommended themselves for races in Europe and then started there, or because not all top athletes were always sent to the individual competitions. Above all, the Canadian federation did not always send the top runners to the races in the USA, which is why the competitions were mostly dominated by US biathletes, although the Canadian team was rated as stronger. In the end, 26 biathletes were placed in the women’s category , the US American BethAnn Chamberlain won the overall standings, 54 starters made it into the points’s category and an US American, Jesse Downs , also won the overall standings . In addition, young starters in particular often switched between junior and senior races.
