Robin Clegg

Robin Clegg (born August 11, 1977 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Canadian biathlete .

Robin Clegg started biathlon in 1995. The Canmore student starts for Chelsea Nordic and is coached by Roger Archambault. He has been a member of the Canadian national team since 1999.

Clegg made his debut in 1999 as 71st in the sprint in Oberhof in the Biathlon World Cup . The highlights of his first season were the European Championships in Zakopane and the Biathlon World Championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo , but he did not achieve any significant placements. Until today (2007) Clegg took part in all world championships since then. For the first time in the World Cup points ranks he could within the 2002 Olympic Winter Games of Salt Lake City run as 28th in singles. Shortly after the games he entered the European Cup in Forni Avoltri and was second in the pursuit behind Tor Halvor Bjoernstad . In the following season, 2002/03, he remained without World Cup points.

The 2003/04 season should be Cleggs most successful. He was able to place four times in the points, the second best result so far was an 18th place in an individual at the 2004 Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof . He finished the season 52nd in the overall World Cup. The following season he achieved his best ever result in a World Cup. In the individual in Antholz, he finished 17th. In 2006 Clegg took part in the Olympic Games for the second time . But in Turin his best result was a 36th place in the individual. Clegg benefits particularly from his good shooting performance, with a hit rate of usually between 75 and 80% in the individual seasons, he achieves his best results especially in disciplines such as the individual and the pursuit, as four times must be shot here. The best World Cup result of his career and his first result in the top ten achieved Clegg in an individual in the 2007/08 season in Pokljuka . In 2010 Robin Clegg took part in the Winter Olympics. With the relay he finished 10th, it was his only start. At the Canadian Championships in 2010 , Clegg won the sprint title and was runner-up in the mixed relay.
