Mark Johnson (born June 7, 1987 in Grand Rapids ) is an American biathlete .
Career
Mark Johnson is a student at Williams College, Massachusetts, where he is studying chemistry. His club is Mount Itasca / Minnesota Biathlon , his team is Team Statkraft Lillehammer . His coaches are and were Tobias Torgersen , Vladimir Cervenka and Robert Fischer. His first international race was in 2004 a relay junior European cup in Méribel , where the US relay was disqualified. Shortly thereafter, Johnson started in Haute-Maurienne at the Junior World Championship with 56th place in the individual and tenth place with the relay as the best result. A year later he started in Kontiolahti and again achieved her best result in the individual as 43rd and 17th in the sprint. Johnson was particularly successful at the 2006 Junior World Cup in Presque Isle . He was ninth in the singles, 20th in the sprint and 12th with the relay, which also included Wynn Roberts and Russell Currier . In Martell he competed for the fourth time without any noteworthy results, and in 2008 for the last time with slightly better results, including ninth place with the relay in Ruhpolding .
Johnson started in the men in 2008. In Itasca , he achieved a podium finish for the first time in a race of the Biathlon NorAm Cup as third in the sprint. He won the subsequent pursuit. A little later he appeared in Altenberg for the first time in the IBU Cup , where he was 48th of the individual.
