Jesse Louis Downs (born August 12, 1977 ) is an American biathlete .

Jesse Down's successes he achieved mainly in races on the North American continent, less in races in Europe. There the athlete from the Superiorland SKI Club only competed in several races of the Biathlon European Cup 2002/03 and achieved a very good place with a fourth place in a sprint race in Ridnaun . He left well-known runners like Hans Martin Gjedrem , Alexander Os or Christian De Lorenzi , but also his later much more successful teammates Jeremy Teela and Lowell Bailey behind. In North America, he won the overall ratings of the Biathlon NorAm Cup racing series in 2007/08 and 2008/09 , the foundation of the Biathlon World Cup in North America. In the two seasons alone he achieved 16 podium finishes and he won three races, all in the second season. At the 2009 US Biathlon Championships in Fort Kent , Downs won silver in the sprint behind Bill Bowler , finished third in the pursuit and missed a third medal in the mass start in fourth.

In addition to biathlon, Downs also does cross-country skiing , especially between 1998 and 2004 he competed in several national and international races. In December 1999 he won a 10-kilometer freestyle race of the Continental Cup in Biwabik .
