Christian De Lorenzi started biathlon in 1995. The sports soldier, who lives in Bormio , starts for CS Esercito and has been part of the Italian national team since 1999. He made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in 2002 in a relay race (9th) in Osrblie . His first individual race in the World Cup was an individual in 2004 in Antholz , in which he finished 68th. De Lorenzi won his first World Cup points just two races later when he first reached 25th place in the sprint in Lake Placid and improved to 16th place in the subsequent pursuit. For the first time, Christian De Lorenzi was among the top ten at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin . He ran in 7th place in the individual competition. In addition, the 14th place in the pursuit was his best result at his "home games". De Lorenzi also competed in Vancouver 2010 . Rank 12 with the relay was the best result, rank 38 in the individual and rank 61 in the sprint were the other results. Christian De Lorenzi has been taking part in world championships since 2004. His best result so far in an individual competition was 6th place in the individual 2008 in Östersund . He finished fourth in the Italian men's relay in 2007. In the World Cup he got his first podium finishes in the 2009/2010 season , he finished second in the pursuit in Kontiolahti after 8th place in the sprint. At the last World Cup station in Khanty-Mansiysk he finished second in the sprint, the penultimate race of the season, behind Ivan Cheresov . He was again faultless in shooting, his good shooting results are the main reason for his overall improved performance. He finished the overall ranking in 32nd place, in the sprint ranking he was 24th, in the mass start 34th, in the pursuit he placed 19th for the first time among the top twenty. At the 2011 Home World Cup in Antholz in South Tyrol, Christian De Lorenzi, together with Lukas Hofer , René-Laurent Vuillermoz and Markus Windisch, took second place in the relay and thus made it to the podium for the first time with an Italian men's relay. Before that, he finished second and third with mixed relays in Pyeongchang in 2008 and in Kontiolahti in 2010.
