Brian Olsen (born October 27, 1983 in Bloomington ) is an American biathlete .

Brian Olsen lives in Bloomington and trains in Jericho . He graduated from the University of Maine and is professionally devoted to the sport he started in 1996. Olsen competed in his first international race in 2001 as part of the Junior World Championships in Khanty-Mansiysk , where he was 71st in the sprint. Two years later he ran in three races in Kościelisko , the best result was 58th place in the individual. The 2004 Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne were particularly successful for Olsen . In the individual he ran to 44th place, in the sprint he was 14th, 22nd in the pursuit race and tenth with the US relay.

Olsen has been running for men since the 2004/05 season . In his first Biathlon European Cup race at the start of the season in Geilo , he finished 34th in the individual. At the end of the series, Olsen was able to achieve single-digit results in Gurnigel by finishing ninth in a super sprint and fifth in a sprint race. After his good performances, he also made his debut in the Biathlon World Cup in Ruhpolding . With Jeremy Teela , Lowell Bailey and Tim Burke he was 17th in the relay competition. It was not until the next season that Olsen was able to compete in individual races in the World Cup in Hochfilzen . In his first of two sprint races, he finished 85th, which is his best result to date. Between the first relay and the first individual race were the highlights of the season in 2006 and the inclusion in the national team of the USA. In the Olympic Games of Turin Olsen replacement was and did not play. For him, the only major event outside of North America was his participation in the 2006 European Biathlon Championships in Langdorf . In the sprint, Olsen ran in 69th place, with Kevin Patzoldt , Mark Johnson and Robert Rosser in 16th place. Olsen contested his last race in Europe so far in 2007.

In addition, Olsen is increasingly taking part in races on the North American continent. In the Biathlon NorAm Cup he always achieved good results, most recently a second place in the pursuit race in Itasca behind Mark Johnson in the 2008/09 season .
