Powder injection is a variant of needle-free injection . As a needle-free form of application, powder injection, like jet injection , is minimally invasive .

In powder injection, the powdered vaccine is brought to high speed with the help of a compressed gas and penetrates the skin due to its mass and acceleration . The powdery particles have a diameter between 20 and 100 micrometers . The injection is almost painless. The vaccine penetrates to the epidermis and, in the case of vaccines, triggers the immune reaction there.
