Identifying features
The plants reach heights of up to 5 cm and grow in loose, dark green to yellowish green lawns. The stem is often provided with a dense, brown rhizoid felt. At the tip it is leafed in rosettes with moist, protruding, dryly curved, wavy leaves, which are slightly edged at the tip and are about 6 mm wide and 10 mm long. At the edge there is a mostly red-brown colored leaf border, which is 2 to 4 rows of cells wide. The red-brown leaf vein ends in the leaf tip. The capsule has 22 to 42 lamellae, is furrowed with age and produces yellow spores.
