Root Star Moose ( Rhizmonium ) are a genus of mosses from the family Mniaceae with holarctic distribution.
description
The plants of this genus usually have simple, unbranched stems, at least below rhizoid-felted, are reddish tinted and grow upright. The leaves are rounded, with entire margins and lined with one or more cell layers. The relatively large, elongated hexagonal leaf cells are arranged diagonally in rows, the cell size decreases from the ribs to the edges. Sporogons usually grow individually, the spore capsule is horizontal to pendulous, the capsule lid is beaked.

The genus Rhizomnium includes 13 species worldwide.
