Purtenance is a Finnish death metal band from Nokia that was formed in 1990 under the name Purtenance Avulsion , split up in 1992 and reunited in 2012.
history
The band was formed in 1990 under the name Purtenance Avulsion. In the same year the band recorded a first, self-titled demo and released it the following year. After that, the band changed their name to Purtenance. The group recorded the EP Crown Waits the Immortal and released it in 1991 via Drowned Productions , label of Dave Rotten . The EP was released in September and was limited to 500 copies.
The band then went into the studio to record the album Member Of Immortal Damnation and release it in 1992. Towards the end of the year the band broke up. In 2012 the band got together again. The year before, their debut album was already re-released via Xtreem Music .
style
The band plays aggressive, sometimes melodic death metal, which is comparable to the music of bands like Demigod , Convulse , Funebre , early Sentenced and Demilich .
