Funebre was a Finnish death metal band from Turku that was formed in 1988 and disbanded in 1991. Along with Abhorrence, they are one of the first Finnish death metal bands.
history
The band was formed in 1988. The band released their first demo with Cranial Torment , which was released in 1989. Two songs from this demo also appeared on the EP Brainspoon , which was released the following year on the German label Whisper in Darkness . In the same year the second demo called Demo '90 was released .
In 1991, the first and only album, called Children of the Scorn , was released and released through Spinefarm Records . The recording of the album took place under the direction of producer Timo Tolkki . A few months later the band broke up.
In 2004, the album was remastered via Xtreem Music, re-released with a new design and demos.
style
The band plays classic death metal, the vocals are always guttural and the electric guitars extremely low. The band's music is comparable to works by bands such as Abhorrence, Grave , Carcass , Pungent Stench , Disharmonic Orchestra , Paradise Lost and Autopsy .
