The Putna is a right tributary of the Sereth (Romanian: Siret ) in the Vrancea district in Romania .

The mineral-rich Putna, partially fed by groundwater, has its source in the Munții Vrancei in the Eastern Carpathians . In its upper reaches it forms a V valley, below Lepșa several gorges cut into the sandstone with a waterfall. It flows generally in an easterly direction, turns northeast of Focşani to the southeast and flows into the Sereth at Năneşti, southeast of Vulturu .

The length of the Putna is 144 km; its catchment area is given as 2,720 km².
