The PyeongChang Olympic Stadium was a temporary stadium in the South Korean city of Pyeongchang , Gangwon-do Province , in the north-east of the country. It was built for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Winter Olympics and the 2018 Winter Paralympics . The construction of the pentagonal building lasted from 2014 to 2017 and cost 116 billion KRW (around 87 million euros ). The initial budget was KRW 63.5 billion (approx. EUR 47.7 million). It offers 35,000 places. At first the stadium was supposed to hold 60,000 visitors, but gradually it was reduced to 40,000 and finally to 35,000 seats.

The journey took place by car via the Jinbu Parking Lot or via the Daegwallyeong Parking Lot, by train via the Jinbu Station (KTX) or by bus via the Jinbu Bus Terminal or the Hoenggye Bus Terminal.
