features
The Pyramidelloidea have an evertable trunk (actually typical for Streptoneura ). This is equipped with stiletto-like jaws that allow the animals to suck out body fluids from vertebrates or to pierce mollusks in unprotected places. The food spectrum also includes polychaeta , sponges and sea squirts .
Systematics
According to Bouchet and Rocroi (2005), the two families Pyramidellidae Gray, 1840 and Amathinidae Ponder, 1987 belong to the superfamily Pyramidelloidea .
