Pyrmonter Bergland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pyrmonter Bergland is a shell limestone landscape in the Lower Saxon Bergland and covers an area of 180 km². Its maximum height is approx. 350 m above sea level . The Emmer valley divides the mountainous region into the Ottensteiner Platten in the east and the Pyrmonter Heights in the west. The Pyrmont valley basin lies in these limestone heights , where mineral and brine springs emerge from the faults , to which Bad Pyrmont owes its status as a spa town .

The Ottensteiner Platten are used for agriculture. The only larger deciduous forest area is on the Pyrmonter Berg . Despite the poor soil, agriculture dominates here; Grassland is used on the rivers in the valleys. Forestry use takes place at the Pyrmonter Berghöhen.

The Emmer brook valley was registered as an FFH ; partly it also has NSG status .
