Pyuria is a Finnish death metal band from Turku that was formed in 1996.

history

The band was formed in late 1996. In the following years various demos appeared, while the line-up of the group changed several times. In 2005 the group signed their first recording contract with Rising Realm Records before the debut album Calliphora Vomitoria Introitus was released. Although the album was released worldwide, with the release in the USA via Crash Music Inc. , the release in Europe was very sparse and in Finland itself not at all. As a result, the group was still largely unknown in their home country, whereupon all members except one left the group. In 2007 the group moved to Violent Journey Records , which released the second album Oubliette Ontology , this time also in Finland. Then some members left the group again. In 2011 the band recorded their third album called Incarnadine Revelry . The album was released again in 2012 on Violent Journey Records.

style

According to Sebastian Schilling from Legacy , American death metal like that of Immolation forms the basis for the songs on Incarnadine Revelry . Thus, the basis is “technically tricky, while the melodies are twisted and malicious, which creates an unholy atmosphere”. However, the “ groovy parts are reminiscent of Morbid Angel during the“ Covenant ”times , especially due to the creaky, earthy guitar sound .
