The Q1 Energie AG is an independent energy company. The company is one of the five largest German medium- sized petrol station operators . With around 200 filling stations in Germany, it has a sales market share of over 1 percent in the overall market. The company generated sales of 522 million euros in the 2016/2017 financial year. The object of the company is the trading of energy (natural gas and electricity), the operation of filling stations and all related business. It is managed in the legal form of a stock corporation . The company maintains four of its own tank farms for supply purposes. The vast majority of the petrol stations carry the Q1 brand . Petrol stations are also operated under the brands bft, Aral, Shell and Agip.
history
The company emerged from F. Wilhelm Beckmann GmbH & Co. KG, founded in 1898. After an initial focus on wholesale leather goods, petrol stations have been in operation since 1923. In 1988 the own brand Q1 was developed and protected as a brand throughout Europe. The petrol station business was brought into Q1 Tankstellenvertrieb GmbH & Co. KG in 2005 , which was converted into Q1 Energie AG with effect from April 8, 2015 . In September 2016, the company transformed into a mobility and energy provider by taking up the end customer business with natural gas and electricity.
Climate protection
Q1 is the only German mineral oil company to support the CO 2 Star initiative . This is a multinational and multilateral project developed in cooperation with the European Commission to reduce CO 2 emissions.
Awards
The readers of the industry magazine “Tankstelle” voted Q1 after first place in 2008 and second place in 2009 as the “second best” mineral oil company. Like AVIA, the company achieved an overall grade of 1.7. When it came to the question of how to deal with partners, the company came second, while Shell came in 14th and last. In a consumer study on the quality of offer and service in petrol station shops from July 2013, which was carried out by the German Society for Consumer Studies ( DtGV ) in cooperation with N24 , Q1 identified the OASE shops as the best offer in the industry.
Associations
Q1 is a member of the associations AFM + E and BFT , which in turn are members of the national umbrella association MEW Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Germany . Membership in the UNITI association ended Q1 at the end of 2012 because it no longer felt that it was politically represented to a sufficient extent.
