Qairat Schorauly Sarybai ( Kazakh Қайрат Шораұлы Сарыбай , Russian Кайрат Шораевич Сарыбай / Kairat Schorajewitsch Sarybaj * 8. June 1966 in Alma-Ata , Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a Kazakh diplomat and politician and since 2014 Kazakh Ambassador to Austria .

biography

Sarybai graduated from Leningrad State University in 1988 with a degree in Linguistics and Oriental Studies . He then worked at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. After Kazakhstan's independence, he worked in the country's foreign ministry and at the Kazakh embassy in Ankara . From 1996 to 1997 he was head of the President’s Protocol Service and from 1997 to 1998 his spokesman.

Between 1998 and 1999, Qairat Sarybai was his country's deputy foreign minister. In 1999 Sarybai returned to the diplomatic service and was appointed Kazakh ambassador to Turkey . After four years as a diplomat in Ankara, he became Kazakhstan's new ambassador to Germany in 2003 . From 2007 to 2008 he again held the post of Deputy Foreign Minister and Coordinator for Relations with the European Union . He then worked for Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and, from 2010, was again Deputy Foreign Minister. Since February 4, 2014, Sarybai has been the Kazakh ambassador to Austria and permanent representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations in Vienna.

Sarybai is married and has four children. In addition to his native Kazakh, he also speaks German, English, Russian and Turkish.
