Ruben Gallego (born November 20, 1979 in Chicago , Illinois ) is an American politician . Since 2015 he has represented the seventh constituency of the state of Arizona in the US House of Representatives .

Ruben Gallego attended Harvard University until 2004 . He served in the United States Marine Corps until 2006 and was also used in the Iraq war . In 2006 and 2007 he worked as a consultant ( Consultant ) for public relations. He then embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party in Arizona. In August 2008, he took part as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in Denver , where Barack Obama was nominated as a candidate for president. In 2009 he became vice Democratic Party chairman for Arizona. From 2010 to 2014 he was a member of the Arizona House of Representatives , where he was an Assistant Minority Leader on the Democratic Group Bureau.

In the 2014 congressional elections , Gallego was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the seventh district of his state . He started his new mandate there on January 3, 2015. He replaced his fellow party member Ed Pastor , who was no longer a candidate. Since he was confirmed in office in 2016, he will also serve in the 115th Congress of the United States, which meets on January 3, 2017 . Its new legislative period runs until January 3, 2019.

Ruben Gallego was married to the politician Kate Gallego from 2010 to the end of 2016 and has a son with her, who was born after the divorce.
