John Frank Wilson
John Frank Wilson (born May 7, 1846 in Pulaski , Tennessee , † April 7, 1911 in Prescott , Arizona ) was an American politician . Between 1899 and 1905 he represented the Arizona Territory twice as a delegate in the US House of Representatives .
Early years
John Frank Wilson came to Alabama early with his parents , where he attended public schools and Rhuhama College . During the Civil War he fought on the side of the Confederate States . From 1863 he was a lieutenant colonel in their army. After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1866, he began to work in his new profession in Fayetteville , Arkansas .
Political rise
Wilson became a member of the Democratic Party . From 1877 to 1878 he was a member of the Arkansas House of Representatives . Between 1885 and 1886 he was a district attorney in the Arkansas fourth judicial district. In 1877 he moved to the Arizona Territory, where he settled in Prescott and worked as a lawyer. In 1891 he was a constituent delegate. From 1893 to 1895, Frank Wilson served as a probate judge in Yavapai County . In 1896 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention , where William Jennings Bryan was nominated as the party's presidential candidate. In the same year Wilson was appointed Attorney General in the Arizona Territory by Territory Governor Benjamin Joseph Franklin . He held this office until 1897.
Congress delegate
In the congressional election of 1898, Wilson was elected to succeed Marcus A. Smith as a delegate to the US House of Representatives in Washington . He exercised this mandate between March 4, 1899 and March 3, 1901. In 1900 he did not run for re-election, after which his predecessor Smith was re-elected to office. Two years later he ran again and was again delegate of the Arizona Territory in Congress between March 4, 1903 and March 3, 1905 . As a delegate, however, he had no voting rights there.
After the end of his second term in the House of Representatives, Wilson returned to practice as a lawyer in Prescott, where he died in 1911.
