George F. Senner

George Frederick Senner Jr. (born November 24, 1921 in Miami , Arizona , † October 6, 2007 in Sun City , Arizona) was an American politician . Between 1963 and 1967 he represented the third constituency of the state of Arizona in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

George Senner attended Miami High School until 1940 . During World War II , he served in the US Marine Corps . He was used in the South Pacific region. After the war, he continued his education with a law degree at the University of Arizona . After his admission to the bar in 1952, he began working in this profession in his hometown of Miami. From 1952 to 1954 he was also the city's assistant lawyer. Between 1954 and 1957 Senner was a district attorney in Gila County and from 1957 to 1963 he was a member of the Arizona Corporation Commission . In the meantime he was also chairman of this commission.

Political career

George Senner was a member of the Democratic Party . In the 1962 congressional elections, he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington as their candidate for the newly created third constituency of Arizona . After he was confirmed in this office two years later, he was able to exercise the mandate in Congress between January 3, 1963 and January 3, 1967. In the 1966 election he was defeated by Sam Steiger , the Republican Party candidate . After the end of his time in Congress, Senner withdrew from politics. He went back to work as a lawyer and died in 2007.
