David Schweikert

David Schweikert (born March 3, 1962 in Los Angeles ) is an American politician.

David Schweikert attended Scottsdale Community College in Arizona until 1985 . He then studied at Arizona State University . In the following years he worked as a realtor and financial advisor. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . From 1991 to 1995 he was an MP in the Arizona House of Representatives . He was then chairman of the Arizona State Board of Equalization . From 2004 to 2007 he served as Treasurer for Maricopa County finances .

In 1994, Schweikert ran unsuccessfully in his party's primary election for the United States House of Representatives . In 2008 he lost to Harry Mitchell in the congressional elections . Two years later, in 2010, this duel took place again, this time Schweikert prevailed with 52:43 percent of the vote. He took up his mandate in the House of Representatives on January 3, 2011. After he was re-elected in 2012, 2014 and 2016, he is expected to be able to exercise his mandate until January 3, 2019. He has the option to run again. Schweikert was or is a member of the United States Joint Economic Committee and the United States House Committee on Financial Services .
