The Arizona House of Representatives ( Arizona House of Representatives ) is the lower house of the Arizona Legislature , the Legislature of the State of Arizona .

The parliamentary chamber consists of 60 members, with two members each representing an electoral district. The district structures are similar to those of Washington and Idaho . Each of these fixed units comprises an average of 172,000 inhabitants. The MPs are each elected for two-year terms; the term of office is limited to four consecutive terms (eight years).

The boardroom, along with the State Senate, is located in the Arizona State Capitol in the capital, Phoenix .

Structure of the chamber

The Speaker of the House is the Chairman of the House of Representatives . He is first elected by the majority parliamentary group in the chamber before confirmation by the entire parliament follows. The speaker is also responsible for the legislative process and oversees the assignments to the various committees. The Republican Kirk Adams has been the speaker since January 2009 , his deputy ( Speaker pro tempore ) is Steve Montenegro .

Other important office holders are the majority leader and the opposition leader ( minority leader ), who are elected by the respective parliamentary groups. Majority leader of the Republicans is Andy Tobin , Minority leader of the Democrat Chad Campbell .
