Montana Senate
The Montana Senate ( Montana State Senate ) is the upper house of the Montana Legislature , the Legislature of the State of Montana . The Chamber of Parliament is composed of 50 senators, each representing an electoral district. The Senate boardroom, along with the House of Representatives, is located in the Montana State Capitol in the capital, Helena .
Tasks of the Senate
As in the upper houses of other states and territories, as well as in the US Senate , the Montana Senate has special tasks compared to the House of Representatives that go beyond legislation. It is the responsibility of the Senate to confirm or reject nominations by the governor in his cabinet, other executive offices, commissions and authorities.
Structure of the chamber
The President of the Senate is not the lieutenant governor , as usual , but an elected member of the Senate. Current Senate President is Republican Scott Sales , 35th constituency.
For majority leader ( Majority leader ) of the Republicans was Fred Thomas , 44. constituency chosen; Opposition leader ( minority leader ) is Democrat Jon Sesso , 37th constituency.
