Robert K. "Bob" Corbin (born November 17, 1928 in Worthington , Indiana ) is an American lawyer and politician ( Republican Party ).

Career

Bob Corbin was born in Greene County in 1928 . His youth were overshadowed by the Great Depression. When he finished high school , he joined the US Navy in 1946 . After his military service, he returned to Indiana. In the following years he went to Indiana University , where he did a bachelor's degree . He then studied law at Indiana Law School and graduated with a law degree. During his studies at Indiana University, he wrote an essay about the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine , which sparked his fascination with the abandoned mining mines and the treasures. It was one of the reasons he moved to Arizona . His research interests particularly affected the Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine and the Superstition Mountains in central Arizona. So he settled in the area.

He took his first trip to the mountains with a friend in the summer of 1957 from Tortilla Flat ( Maricopa County ) south into the rugged wilderness. On their way back they came through the Surprise Canyon Formation and finally reached Tortilla Flat, completely exhausted. This trip never caused him to hike the Superstition Mountains again in the summer months, especially July. Corbin was fascinated by the prospectors, their stories and the traditions from the area. He went hiking in the mountains at every opportunity on the weekends. He went on exploratory trips into the mountainous wilderness. He enjoyed the beauty, tranquility and solitude of this terrain.

In 1958 he was appointed Maricopa Deputy County Attorney - a post he held until 1960. In November 1964 he was elected Maricopa County Attorney . He held the post from 1965 to 1968. He was then elected to the Maricopa County Council in 1972. Corbin successfully ran for the post of Attorney General of Arizona in 1978 . He was subsequently re-elected twice, in 1982 and 1986. He held the post from 1979 until his retirement in January 1991.

After that he enjoyed with his wife Helen near Prescott ( Yavapai County ) his retirement until after 49 years of marriage died. The couple had three daughters.

During the 2014 campaign for the post of Attorney General of Arizona, he supported the candidacy of Mark Brnovich .

Coffin is a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and was also president of that organization. He is a strong believer in the United States Constitution and the laws that are passed. His constant tenet was "the law is the law." Coffin received many local, state and national awards throughout his life for his dedication to public service.
