John W. Murphy (politician, 1874)

John W. Murphy (* 1874 in Paris , Illinois ; † April 10, 1947 ibid) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ).

Career

John W. Murphy was born and raised in Edgar County in 1874 . Nothing is known about his youth. He studied at some point Jura . He subsequently served as a prosecutor in Edgar County. In 1904 he moved to the Arizona Territory and settled there in Globe ( Gila County ). In the following years he worked as a Gila County Attorney. Murphy served in the 1st Arizona State Legislature. He was elected Attorney General of Arizona in 1922 and re-elected in 1924 and 1926 - a post he held from 1923 to 1929.

He died on April 10, 1947 at his sister's house in Paris, Illinois while visiting.
