Paris is a small town and administrative center of the Edgar County in eastern US -amerikanischen state of Illinois . In 2000 Paris had 9,077 inhabitants.

Paris is 39 ° 47'52 "north latitude and 88 ° 16'54" west longitude. The city extends over 5.5 km², which consists exclusively of land.
US Highway 150 runs through Paris and changes its course from north-south to west-east in the center of the city and leaves the city to the east. Furthermore, Illinois State Routes 1 , 16 and 133 and some subordinate streets meet in the city.
A CSX Transportation railway line runs through Paris .
In the north of Paris there are the Twin Lakes , a reservoir which provides the city's water supply, as well as the oldest and most important city park, the Twin Lakes Park .
Terre Haute , located in the neighboring state of Indiana , is 33.9 km to the southeast, Illinois' capital Springfield is 189 km to the west and Chicago is 292 km to the north.
