Armed Forces Equatorial Guinea
The armed forces of Equatorial Guinea (Spanish: Fuerzas Armadas de Guinea Ecuatorial ) are divided into the army ( Ejército ), air force ( Fuerza Aérea ), navy ( Marina de guerra ) and the paramilitary gendarmerie .
Workforce
Equatorial Guinea's military is estimated to be 2500 men and is complemented by paramilitary units of unknown size. The police security forces are trained by Israelis .
history
On October 12, 1968, the Spanish colony of Equatorial Guinea was granted independence. President Francisco Macías Nguema oriented himself towards the Soviet Union and, as a strategic ally, could count on its support. In the mid-1970s there were around 500 Cuban military advisers in the country. After Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo's military coup in 1979, the armed forces were reorganized.

After several coup attempts and raids by sea, a radar chain is set up to monitor the coast. Military Professional Resources (MPRI), a private security company , is in charge of this . The modern coast defense boats are serviced by Israeli specialists.
