The Seychelles People's Defense Force ( German Seychellois People's Defense Army ) is the 650 (2012) Members of extensive military of Seychelles .
It is divided into Army , Coast Guard and National Guard .
General
Due to the lack of land borders, the maritime components form the focus of the Seychelles People's Defense Force. In 2005 the Seychelles had a defense budget of 14.85 million US dollars, which corresponds to 2.1% of the gross national product .
history
The Seychelles People's Defense Force was founded in 1977 and trained by Tanzanian military advisors . After an attempted coup in 1981, the Jeshi la Wananchi la Tanzania sent troops to the Seychelles for three years. There were also North Korean military advisers in the country.
Army
The army of 200 soldiers consists of only a small infantry unit .
Coast Guard
The 250-strong Coast Guard has 2 large patrol ships (one of which is a Turya class ) and several small boats.
Air Wing
The Coast Guard also includes the Air Wing , which has a DHC-6 , a Dornier Do 228 , two Harbin Y-12s and a BN-2T Defender .
