The armed forces of Mozambique ( pt. Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique , abbreviated to FADM ) are the military of the Republic of Mozambique .
General
The FADM was formed in 1994 from associations of the former FRELIMO government army and RENAMO fighters. It has a staff of 11,200 and is divided into the three classic branches of the army , navy and air force . In 2017 which amounted defense budget 103 million US dollars , which 0.8 percent of gross domestic product accounts.
Land Forces
According to the IISS, the army has 9-10,000 members. These are divided into seven infantry battalions , three special forces battalions , two to three artillery batteries , two engineer battalions and one logistics battalion .
At equipment are u. a. 60 T-54 - Tank , 40 BMP-1 - armored , 30 BRDM-1 / BRDM-2 - Spähpanzer , 160 BTR-60 - team armored and 100 BTR-152 -Mannschaftstransportpanzer available.
Naval forces
The Navy operates 8 patrol boats .
- two L&T- class patrol boats
- three OCEAN EAGLE 43 trimaran patrol boats
- three HSI 32 patrol boats
Air Force
The Air Force operates 10 aircraft and 6 helicopters (as of the end of 2019).
