Armed Forces of Niger
The armed forces of Niger ( French : Forces Armées Nigériennes , short: FAN ) are the military of the Republic of Niger . They include the armed forces of the army and the Niger Air Force . In addition, the National Gendarmerie , the National Police and the Niger National Guard belong to the armed forces. The President of Niger is the commander in chief of all units in the Nigerien armed forces.
The FAN participate in the Multinational Joint Task Force on the country's border with Nigeria. Since 2012, FAN troops have been involved in the fight against the Islamist terror in Boko Haram .
