Boulama manga

Mahamane Ouadaï Boulama Manga (born April 12, 1940 in N'Guigmi ) is a Nigerien officer and politician .

Life

Boulama Manga went to primary school in N'Guigmi and attended the Collège classique et moderne in Niamey from 1953 to 1958 . He then worked as an assistant teacher at the primary school in Bouné . Manga became a member of the gendarmerie, which belonged to the Nigerien armed forces , in 1961 and attended gendarmerie schools in Fréjus and Melun in France . He returned to Niger in 1964 and became a sub-lieutenant and group commander of the gendarmerie in Maradi . In 1966 he was promoted to nationwide commandant of the gendarmerie. He had the rank of lieutenant from 1966 and from 1970 the rank of captain .

Manga belonged to the group of officers who by on April 15, 1974 military coup the President Hamani Diori deposed and the Supreme Military Council , the military junta formed Niger. During the coup, he took on the task of coordinating the entire operation with Seyni Kountché and François-Robert Wright . Boulama Manga held four different ministerial posts in succession until 1979: he was Minister for Economic Affairs, Trade and Industry from April 22, 1974, Minister of Health and Social Affairs from June 3, 1975, Minister for Rural Development from February 21, 1976 and finally from 5 September 1978 to September 10, 1979 Minister for Youth, Sport and Culture. On June 16, 1980 he was appointed Prefect of the Tahoua Department. Manga refused to take up the post because, as prefect, he was subordinate to Interior Minister Mamadou Tandja , who had a low military rank. He was then imprisoned for some time, retired in 1983 and finally officially retired in 1988 because he had refrained from any activity for the Nigerien armed forces since June 16, 1980.

As Colonel i. R. Boulama Manga was rehabilitated in 1999 under the head of state Daouda Malam Wanké . President Mahamadou Issoufou appointed him Grand Chancellor of the Nigerien National Order in 2011 .
