In addition, the Barotse Patriotic Front occasionally draws attention to itself, which, as was admitted in 1999, is connected to the Caprivi Liberation Army , an area where Lozi also live, who can easily stock up on weapons in Angola. In October 1997 an amateurishly prepared attempted coup by young officers failed . In June 2002, then President Levy Mwanawasa declared that a planned coup had been uncovered.
