The district Qambar Shahdadkot is an administrative district in Pakistan in the province of Sindh . The seat of the district administration is the city of Qambar .
The district has an area of 5599 km² and according to the 2017 census 1,341,042 inhabitants. The population density is 240 inhabitants / km². The Sindhi language is spoken by the majority in the district .
location
The district is located in the north of Sindh Province, which is located in southeastern Pakistan. Qambar Shahdakot borders three districts of Balochistan in the west , Khuzdar , Jaffarabad and Jhal Magsi . Its southern borders are connected to the Dadu district . Larkana district is in the east and Jacobabad district in the north.

history
The district was created in 2005 from parts of Larkana . There has been some controversy over the name of the district, with Qambar initially being preferred, but after protests from Shahdadkot residents, it was renamed Qambar Shahdadkot.
Demographics
Between 1998 and 2017 the population grew by 1.97% annually. About 30% of the population live in urban areas and about 70% in rural areas. 682,859 men, 658,148 women and 35 transgender people live in 223,154 households , resulting in a gender ratio of 103.8 men per 100 women, which is a frequent male surplus for Pakistan.
The literacy rate in the years 2014/15 among the population over 10 years of age was 39% (women: 27%, men: 60%) and thus below the average of the Sindh province of 60%.
