Bender Siyaada (or Bandar Ziada, Bandar Ziàda, Bandar Siyaada, Bender Ziada, Bendersiyada, Sijada ) or also Qaw (or Qoow, Kau, Gau ) is a port city in northeast Somalia in the Bari region . Most of the approximately 1000 inhabitants belong to the Somali clan of the Waabaneeye, a subclan of the Majerteen- Darod .
The city was once the westernmost outpost of the Majerteen Sultanates against the Darod clan of the Warsangeli, later German Somaliland and Italian Somaliland against British Somaliland .
Since the outbreak of the Somali civil war , the place has been controversial between the autonomous state of Puntland and Somaliland, which is striving for independence . In the meantime, Maakhir also made a claim, but this was done away with when he joined Puntland.
