Quah Kim Swee

Quah Kim Swee ( 1938 or 1939 - July 18, 2015 ) was a soccer player from Singapore .

Athletic career

Quah came from a sports family, ten of the eleven siblings represented Singapore in various sports. Between the 1950s and 1970s, the striker ran for the Singapore national team . He led the selection at the Asian Games in 1966 as team captain to one of their greatest international successes when they reached the semi-finals. After losing to the eventual tournament winners Burma and Japan , the selection missed a medal. The year before he had already won the Malaysia Cup with the national team . He was also part of an Asian all-star team in the 1960s that competed against European teams.

Quah later worked at a bank , who allegedly had an offer from the English first division club Coventry City in his prime . In July 2015, he died of colorectal cancer at the age of 76 .
