The Quarneihütte ( Italian Capanna Quarnei ) is a mountain hut of the Società Alpinistica Bassa Blenio (SABB). The hut is named after the Alpe di Quarnei ( 2046 m above sea level ), the highest alp in the Malvaglia valley.
description
The hut is located at an altitude of 2107 m southwest of the Rheinwaldhorn and has 58 beds in six rooms. It is located in the municipality of Serravalle at the end of the Malvaglia valley, a side valley east of the Blenio valley in the canton of Ticino . It is the starting point for numerous hikes and mountain tours. In 1998/1999 it was built with stones from an alpine hut on Alp Pozzo that was destroyed by an avalanche and larch wood from Alp Bolla .
Access
In summer, the Quarneihütte can be reached on hiking trails from Dandrio -Cusié ( 1666 m ) in 1½ hours, from Dagro ( 1367 m , Malvaglia Filovia – Dagro cable car ) in 3 hours and in winter from Mavaglia dam ( 913 m ) or from Dagro in 3½ hours Hours.
