Quartel , also Quarte, was a grain measure in France and a wine measure in Germany .

France , Sedan 1 quart = 1213 Parisian cubic inches = 24.1 liters
Germany , Augsburg 1 quarter = 2 eighths = 18 Parisian cubic inches = 7/20 liters

1 measure = 4 quarters
1 Seidel = 2 quarters

Quartel was also used in logger fishing to describe a section of the herring drifting net with around 15 linked individual nets.
