The Quba Mosque ( English Quba Mosque ) was the first and is the largest mosque in the southwest African state of Namibia . It is the seat of the Windhoek Islamic Center and is located in the Klein Windhoek district of the capital Windhoek . The seat of Muslims in Namibia is in Windhoek-West in the Namibia Islamic Center (Islamic Center of Namibia).

The Quba Mosque was built in 1995 with the help of the Iranian Embassy in Namibia. In addition to the main prayer room, there is a prayer room for women and a library. It is the only Shiite mosque in the country, but is also frequented by Sunnis .

The current and third imam has been the Iranian Davoud Jafari since 2009 .

Islam in Namibia

The Islam plays in addition to the prevailing Christianity a subordinate role. The number of Muslims is estimated at 3,000-5,000; There are 12 mosques nationwide, six in Windhoek, two in Katima Mulilo , one in Walvis Bay and three in the former Ovamboland .
