The Quellenpark is a park in the city center of Bad Soden am Taunus .

history

The Quellenpark is located in the old town of Bad Soden. It was completed in 1872 after the city acquired the necessary land. At the neighboring Franzensbader Platz was the first spa house in the village, the "Haus Bockenheimer" from 1722. The house was built as a spa house by salt works manager Johann Georg Wartenberg . Originally it was a baroque building with 27 rooms and 4 bathroom cabinets. In 1813 it was converted into the "Frankfurt Hof". In 1838/39 the baroque roof structure was removed and replaced by a classical roof structure. It has been a private home since the late 19th century . Johann Isaak von Gerning (1801), Jakob and Marianne von Willemer (1816) and Ludwig Börne (1829 and 1830) stayed at the Kurhaus . Since 1992 the building has belonged to the Hundertwasserhaus next door. The facade was changed.

The core of the Quellenpark is the brine fountain . It is a fluoride and carbonated sodium chloride thermal bath. In 1567 the source was checked by the Frankfurt City Council and approved for salt extraction. As a result, the salt water from the spring was fed into the local salt pans , where salt was extracted. From 1854 the spring was used as a spa and drinking fountain. In 1856 there was a new version with a hole 6 meters deep. In 1886 the "Sodenia Pavilion" was built over the spring. It is a symbol of the city.

Until 1968 there was another fountain in the park: the meadow fountain . This was taken for the first time in 1837. Later this fountain lost its medical recognition as medicinal water . Today only a manhole cover on the respective square reminds of this fountain.

The Hundertwasser House is behind the park .
