Quernholz ( Danish Kværnholt ) is a street settlement near Quern which belongs to the municipality Steinbergkirche in Schleswig-Flensburg .

location

Groß-Quern is about a kilometer west of Quernholz . The street from Quernholz bears the name of the same name, which leads east to the neighboring Hattlundmoor, the development of which is about 200 meters away. With regard to Hattlundmoor it should be noted that nowadays it is completely fused with the main town Steinbergkirche. The village of Westerholm is also about 600 meters north.

background

The first part of the place name refers to the affiliation to the municipality of Quern. The second part of the place name "wood" clearly refers to a wood . The eponymous forest is located directly south of the houses in Quernholz. Incidentally, in 1630 a country site at the eastern beginning of the access road to Quernholz near Hattlundmoor was described for the first time with the words: "Kate bei Munckels Kreeute", which was also called "Munkenskors". 1844 was with Querholz apparently only one Kate the crossbar was called. On the detailed map of the Prussian land survey around 1879, several buildings and the forest near Quernholz were already recognizable. In 1961 14 people lived in Quernholz and in 1970 15 people lived there.
