Quickborn Heath

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Quickborn-Heide is a district of the municipality Quickborn in the Pinneberg district in Schleswig-Holstein .

geography

The district is located about 25 kilometers northwest of central Hamburg , mainly east of the federal highway 7 . The western part is called Heide-Halenberg.

The local transport connection is via the bus lines of the Hamburger Verkehrsverbund and the train lines A1 and A2 of the AKN . Stops are Meeschensee and Quickborner Straße on the A2 line and Tanneneck on the A1 line. During the construction of the K113, the district was cut off from the Haslohfurth stop (line A2) due to a lack of crossing options. The settlement is mostly characterized by single-family houses, semi-detached houses and smaller residential units. The character of the district as a green garden city with close connections to the motorway and Hamburg Airport is very popular.

history

Memorial in the north cemetery for the victims of the explosion

In 1891, von Thorn built the first Spiralit factory in the Quickborner Heide . This employed 20 to 25 workers and produced hunting and drill ammunition. The factory closed in 1910. From 1892, von Thorn set up a factory for explosives and powder, which saw buoyant demand during the First World War.

In 1904 the Hamburg Explosivstoffwerke Glückauf and from 1914 to 1916 the Norddeutsche Sprengstoffwerke AG were added in this area. On February 10, 1917, a catastrophic explosion occurred in the Thorn explosives plant, which triggered a chain reaction several hundred meters wide and in which at least 115 mostly young workers died.

After the First World War, some farmers in the heath sold their sterile soil. Hamburg agents bought the land and the remains of Thorn GmbH and offered it as cheap building land. Officially there was talk of weekend properties - a new settlement area was gradually emerging. Because of the strong growth, the Quickborner Heide did not grow into a district with its own supply facilities and a center. In 1951 the forest school was inaugurated and contributed to the integration of the area.

In 1981 the EFA 81, the single-family house exhibition with 80 different house types in conventional construction, was established, which represents the primal cell of today's modern development. Since then, many new houses have been built in the heath. In 2000, a large, on-site shopping center was opened in the adjacent Nord am Halenberg industrial park.

education

For early childhood development, there are two day-care centers in the immediate vicinity of the residential areas. The dwarf villa is a kindergarten run by the AWO with a wide range of offers for children aged 1–10 years. This is located in the "old" part of Quickborn-Heide next to the site of the former ammunition factory and in the immediate vicinity of horse and pony paddocks. The Wilde 13 is the day care center of the Johanniter , which offers places for children from 0.6 to 14 years. This daycare center is located directly in the "new" development area, in which there are additional diverse offers for children. The state forest of Rantzau (today: Schleswig-Holstein State Forests ) begins nearby . Both kindergartens use this facility.

For school beginners, both kindergartens offer supervised courses for the primary school "Waldschule" during the transition period. The forest school has four grade levels and a spatially attached care school. The secondary schools are in Quickborn-Ort and can be easily reached by bus. Sporty pupils like to use their bikes in summer to get to the schools in Quickborn Ort.

church

In Quickborn-Heide there is the Martin Luther parish. In addition to church services, the small parish also offers confirmation classes. Many Quickborn-Heider and their families come to the regular celebrations in the year (such as the popular summer festival or the St. Martin's parade).

economy

Although the place only has about 5,852 inhabitants (as of 2007 urban development concept), there are two generous industrial areas adjacent: Halenberg and the North industrial area. The Halenberg with modern buildings and local supply center continues to expand. A small selection of companies: Oestmann Söhne GmbH, locksmith and welding shop, MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, maintenance, repair and sale of motor vehicles, Winterholt & Hering GmbH, wholesale of machines, equipment and accessories, Hansewerk , IGS Schreier (logistics), Korthals Schneid- EDM, Comdirect Bank , Famila Handelsgesellschaft and many others.

The old industrial area (industrial area east) at the cross of Zeppelinstraße ( Zeppelin GmbH ), Ulzburger Landstraße (Oswald Kartonagen) and Th.-Storm-Straße no longer plays a major role. The Zeppelin Construction GmbH has left the marked by their name field already of 2002. Opposite the old industrial property there has been a specialist shop for gardening supplies (Nordlädchen.de), a practice for physiotherapy (Heinemann), dentists and some smaller companies for real estate, party service (WOK) and mail order companies for solid wood furniture (Yadros) since 2004. The proximity of the A7 and its use as a commercial area (B-Plan) make this area even more attractive.
