Quinnipiac River State Park is a state park in the US state of Connecticut in the North Haven community .
geography
The park consists of four parcels that protect a section of the Quinnipiac River for a length of 6 mi (9.7 km). The land was originally acquired by the state for the construction of Wilbur Cross Parkway in the 1930s and then sold as unused land. Frequent flooding made the floodplains unattractive and a small settlement was finally removed in the 1970s and the land was designated as a state park. The Quinnipiac Trail runs through the park. A few hundred yards away is Sleeping Giant State Park to the west and Wharton Brook State Park to the east.
Freetime activities
Hiking, fishing, boating, and hunting are available in the park.
