Asconius Pedianus

Quintus Asconius Pedianus (* around 9 BC, Padua ; † around 76 AD) was a commentator on classical texts and a grammarian.

His comments on the following speeches by Marcus Tullius Cicero have been preserved : in L. Calpurnium Pisonem , (“Against Lucius Calpurnius Piso ”), per Aemilio Scauro (“For Aemilius Scaurus ”), per T. Annio Milone (“For Titus Annius Milo ”) ), per Cornelio de maiestate , in toga candida . The comments on the last two speeches mentioned from the years 65 and 64 BC are interesting. BC, since the speeches themselves have not been preserved. Further comments are lost or inauthentic.

Suetonius used Asconius Pedianus for his De viris illustribus .
