Life
Poppaedius Silo was a friend of Marcus Livius Drusus , who, as a tribune of the people, tried to win Roman citizenship for the Italians , where he met fierce opposition from the strictly conservative Senate group of the Optimates . According to an anecdote in Plutarch's , Silo was often in Drusus's house, where he met the children of Livias with Quintus Servilius Caepio and Marcus Porcius Cato Salonianus . Everyone talked to him more or less enthusiastically, except for little Marcus Porcius Cato , who just sat there in silence or answered cheekily. But when Silo held him out of the window by his legs and threatened to throw him out, he was well behaved and said nothing.
